Athens & Cape Sounio Tour (Full Day)

If you are in Athens and you are willing to dedicate a full day on sightseeing, then Athens & Cape Sounio full day tour is the best choice for you. Our trip begins by the time we collect you from your hotel. Our first stop is the Acropolis of Athens, the UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will have the luck to admire the Parthenon, an over 2000-year-old building and all the other monuments of the Acropolis hill such as Erechtheion, the Temple of Athena Nike and Propylaea. On the top of the hill, there is a view of Mars hill, the Theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

Then we will drive to Arch of Adrian and the Temple of Olympian Zeus which are located across Zappeion Hall and we will head to Panathenaic stadium (Kallimarmaro), the place where the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896. Next stop Syntagma Square, in front of Greek Parliament to watch Evzones the Presidential guard. Afterwards we will drive through the narrow streets of Plaka (The old city of Athens) towards Monastiraki Square where we can have a quick stop at the flea market to taste the famous Greek Souvlaki!

Thereafter we continue our trip driving along the coastal road of Saronic Gulf passing through the most fabulous suburbs of Athens such as Faliro, Alimos, Elliniko, Glyfada and further away towards Voula, Kavouri and Vouliagmeni. Before reaching our final destination, we will stop off at one of the many beaches we will find across the Saronic Gulf. We are going to spend 1.5 hour on one of them to relax and enjoy the sea before we continue our trip to Sounio.

Arriving at Sounio we find the famous Temple of Poseidon (the god of the sea) which was built around 2500 years ago, standing on an incredible cliff top with a stunning view of Saronic Gulf. Walking in the archeological site makes you feel awe and you have the illusion that you travel back in time, in the 5th century BC. On a clear day you can see more than 5 Greek islands on the horizon and as the sun goes down you will have the luck to witness an incredible sunset, one of the best sunsets in the world.
